Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas,
architects, designers and heads of Fuksas studio, one of the most
renowned architecture studio in the world, have designed for FIAM
several products: the mirrors in curved glass Lucy, Rosy and Mary and
Roy coffee table in glass.
Massimiliano Fuksas, of Lithuanian origins, was born in Rome in 1944
and earned his degree in architecture at the La Sapienza University in
Rome.
In 1967 he started his studio in Rome, in 1989 one in Paris and in 2008 one in Shenzhen, China.
Massimiliano Fuksas has been since the '80s one of the leading
figures in modern architecture. He was visiting professor at several
universities, such as the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, the
Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Vienna, the Staadtliche Akademia des
Bildenden Kunste in Stuttgart and Columbia University in New York.
In 2000, he was the director of the 7th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice: “Less Aesthetics, More Ethics”.
Since 2000, he has been writing for the architecture column started
by Bruno Zevi for the Italian weekly publication “L’Espresso”.
Doriana Fuksas (née Mandrelli) was born in Rome where she earned her
degree in History of Modern and Contemporary Architecture at the La
Sapienza University of Rome in 1979 and, later, in Architecture at the
ESA in Paris.
She has been teaching at both the Department of History of Art of the
Faculty of Letters and Arts and at the ITACA Department of Industrial
Design at the Sapienza University in Rome. She curated four “Special
Projects” at the 7th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice:
“Less Aesthetics, More Ethics” in 2000: Jean Prouve’, Jean Maneval, the
Peace Pavilion and Architecture of Spaces, and the contemporary art
section.
She has been in partnership with Massimiliano Fuksas since 1985 and has been the head of “Fuksas Design” since 1997.
