Patrick Jouin, designer whose creativity
finds its expression through decorative arts in the field of industrial
design, as created for FIAM the Aura showcase in curved glass and Magma
table in glass.
Patrick Jouin was born in Nantes, France, in 1967 and obtained his degree in 1992 at the ENSCI- Les ateliers in Paris.
Through the partnerships with major companies, such as Cassina,
Kartell, Alessi, Puiforcat, JC Decaux, Fermob, Pedrali, Busnelli and
Fiam and through his exceptional projects, Patrick found its place in
international design where only few know how to evolve with both ease
and strength as he does.
The Patrick Jouin ID studio deals with not only industrial
design but also with interior design through the Jouin Manku Stydio,
which he started in 2006 in association with his colleague Sanjit
Manku.
For Patrick and Sanjit, the lines between architecture and design
cease to exist, every aspect of a space, from ceiling height to door
handle, spoon to staircase, is an opportunity to demonstrate their
combined vision of objects, spaces and structures. Patrick Jouin's career and his design studio, were consecrated by a
monographic exhibition at Centre Pompidou in 2009. They were also
honoured with the Compasso d'Oro in 2011 for PastaPot.
Many of his creations are in the permanent collections of museums
worldwide, including the "Solid" collection at MOMA, which in 2004 was
the first series of real-size furniture made by 3D printing technology.
He has completed numerous interior design projects including:
Alain Ducasse’s restaurant and bar at the Hotel Plaza Athénée, the
restaurant of the Louis XV, Van Cleef and Arpels’ showroom, among many
other trade and hospitality venues in Europe, Asia and the United
States.
